· TYPE LOCALITY. Unknown.

· RANGE. From Asia Minor across Iran, Iraq, Transcaucasia and Kopet-Dagh to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Armenian Highland, Talysh, Kopet-Dagh - the nominate subspecies.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Found in different habitats within a very wide range of altitudes (500-2,000 m a.s.l.), from semi-desert to mountain biotopes with rock, preferring clayey slopes. Flight period: April-July.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. P. kanishka: UPS postdiscal band on both wings wider and of uniform sandy-yellow colour.
