· TYPE LOCALITY. "Schakuh im ostlichen Teil des Elbursgebirges, Iran" [Shahkuh Mt. Range, Elburs Mts., Iran].

· RANGE. Confined to the Elburs and Kopet-Dagh Mts.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Dry clayey-stony habitats at 1,000-2,000 m a.s.l. Flight period: mid-July to September.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. P. pelopea: UPS postdiscal band not darkened; UPS eye-spots with white pupils. P. panjshira: fringes white or whitish-brown; UPS band not darkened. P. beroe: wings produced; postdiscal band better developed.
