· TYPE LOCALITY. Lapland.

· RANGE. From Fennoscandia across subpolar tundras of Europe and Siberia to the Chukot Peninsula and Alaska.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Polar tundras of the European part - the nominate subspecies (= crambis Freyer, 1845); tundras of Siberia - ssp. patrushevae Korshunov, 1985; the Chukot Peninsula - ssp. mackkinliensis dos Passos, 1949.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Shrubby tundras. Flight period: June-July. Host plants (Lang, 1884; Henriksen, Kreutzer, 1982): Festuca ovina, Carex. Many populations, especially those in N. Siberia, are female-biased.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. O. norna: male androconia more conspicuous; UPF and UPH yellowish bands well-developed, as a rule, especially so in females.
