p>· TYPE LOCALITY. "...le gouvernement d'Irkoutzk de la Siberie orientale" [Irkutsk Region, E. Siberia].

· RANGE. From the Urals across S. Siberia, China and Mongolia to Korea and Japan.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Urals, S. Siberia, the Altai, Transbaikalia - the nominate subspecies; the Amur and Ussuri regions - ssp. erebina Butler, 1883; Sakhalin - ssp. sachalinensis Matsumura, 1911.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. In the western part of the range, it occurs in various habitats of light coniferous forest; in the Amur and Ussuri regions, it reaches stony tundras in the mountains (1,500-1,700 m a.s.l.), flying over stony slopes and alpine meadows at the upper forest border. Flight period: June-August, in two generations in favourable conditions. Host plants (Fukuda et al., 1983): Agrostis, Calamagrostis, Elytrigia.
