· TYPE LOCALITY. "...les montages de Boureï a et jusqu' а Noor sur l'Oussouri, et au mois d'Aoet pres de l'embouchure du Ssoungari". [S. Amur region].

· RANGE. The Amur region and E. China to Korea and Japan.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. E. Transbaikalia, the Amur and Ussuri regions. A small mountain form has been described as the ssp. atratus Kurentzov, 1941.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Occurring mainly in lowland deciduous and mountain coniferous forests up to the alpine belt. In E. Transbaikalia, it is associated with stony slopes, woody river banks and larch forests with birch. Flight period: July-September.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. K. epaminondas: UPS ground colour of male fulvous brown; UNF dark basal band within the cell slightly curved with its lower end directed towards cubitus.
