   Karanasa tancrei   (Grum-Grshimailo, 1898)

· TYPE LOCALITY. "Alexander Mountains (Oriental Tian-Shan Mountains)" [Maidantag Mts. (west), N. Kashgar, China]. In the original description, the "Alexander Mts." (= Kirghizsky Mts.) as the type locality is indicated by mistake.

· SYNONYMS: conradti (Alpheraky, 1894); eburnea Avinov et Sweadner, 1951; arpensis Avinov et Sweadner, 1951; turugensis Avinov et Sweadner, 1951.

· RANGE. China (Kashgar) and Inner Tian-Shan - the nominate subspecies.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes at 3,300-3,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. K. puengeleri: UPS bases of wings darker; postdiscal bands always conspicuous; FW apex not pointed.
