· TYPE LOCALITY. "Terter [Mir-Baschir]" [Azerbaijan].

· RANGE. From Cyprus and Turkey across the S. European part and the Caucasus, Iran and Iraq to Syria and Kopet-Dagh.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Crimea, the Caucasus and Transcaucasia - the nominate subspecies; the middle and lower Volga areas - ssp. volgensis (Mazochin-Porshnjakov, 1952); Kopet-Dagh - ssp. turkmenica (Heydemann, 1942). Kudrna (1977) regards the last two taxa as separate species.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Edges of coniferous and mixed mountain and foothill forests up to 2,000 m a.s.l., sparse forests in flood-lands. Flight period: June-September.
