· TYPE LOCALITY. "Marmaragebiet (Istanbul; Bursa; Tekirdag)".

· RANGE. From the Balkans across Asia Minor to Transcaucasia, Iran and Kopet-Dagh.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Armenian Highland - ssp. persiscana (Verity, 1937); Kopet-Dagh - ssp. klapperichi (Gross et Ebert, 1975) (= dagi Korshunov et Krasilnikova, 1990).

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Stream valleys, dry sparse woodlands and montane forest edges up to 2,000 m a.s.l. Host plants (Hesselbarth et al., 1995): Festuca, Poa. Flight period: July-September.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. H. statilinus: smaller; UNH pattern less strongly contrasting, conspicuously dusted with grey, postdiscal band without dark margin.
