LEPIDOPTERA

Erebia sibo Alpheraky, 1881
   Erebia sibo Alpheraky, 1881

· TYPE LOCALITY. "Juldousse" [Arshan River valley, upper basin of Kunges River, Boro-Khoro Mts., China].

· RANGE. Confined to Tian-Shan.

· TAXONOMIC NOTES. Judged from the original description, E. mongolica Erschoff, 1888, described from the Lake Chatyrkel area in Inner Tian-Shan, is very similar if not identical to E. sibo; hence, synonymy is likely to be implied. Since then, no reliable records of the former taxon have been made, while the record of E. sibo by Grum-Grshimailo (1890) in the Alaisky Mts. is wrong.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Meadows and steppe, more rarely stony habitats at 2,700-3,700 m a.s.l. Flight period: June-August.
