· TYPE LOCALITY. "...col. Kaouk" [Pass Kauk, Alaisky Mts., Kirghizia].

· RANGE. Confined to Alai.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Alaisky Mts. - the nominate subspecies; the Zaalaisky Mts. - ssp. samodurovi Tschikolovez, 1992. The differences between them are insignificant.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes at 2,500-4,000 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. radians: larger; UNH with conspicuous silvery dusting and an obscure dark postdiscal band; UPS red-brown markings brighter.
