· TYPE LOCALITY. "Lapponia" [Lappland].

· RANGE. From Lappland across the northern areas of Eurasia to the Chukot Peninsula, S. Yakutia, the Sayan Mts., Transbaikalia, N. Mongolia and N. China; N. America.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Polar tundras and the northern European part and Siberia - the nominate subspecies; the Altai and Sayan Mts., Transbaikalia - ssp. festiva Warren, 1931; the Chukot Peninsula - ssp. steckeri Holland, 1930.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Lowland and mountain tundras. Flight period: June-July. Host plants (Gorbunov, Korshunov, 1995): Carex spp.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. embla: UPS ocelli large and well-developed. E. rossi: UNH discal cell without white spot on its outer side.
