· TYPE LOCALITY. The mountains of Colorado [USA].

· RANGE. Mountainous areas from Tarbagatai across the Altai, Sayan, Tuva and Mongolia to E. Yakutia; the western part of N. America.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Due to the disjunct distribution pattern, the following subspecies have been described based mainly on geographical rather than morphological differences:

ssp. sibirica Staudinger, 1881 - the Saur and Tarbagatai mts.;

ssp. altajana Staudinger, 1901 - the Altai Mts.;

ssp. simulata Warren, 1933 - the Sayan Mts.;

ssp. tsherskiensis Dubatolov, 1992 - the Far East.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Stony steppe-clad slopes at 1,500-2,800 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August. Host plant (Gorbunov, Korshunov, 1995): probably Kobresia.
