· SYNONYM: boreomontanum Sedykh, 1979.

· TYPE LOCALITY. "Bugranitza, Kanin peninsula" [Kanin Peninsula, Arkhangelsk Region, Russia].

· RANGE. Endemic to the north of European Russia.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The nominate subspecies is distributed in the N. European part. Aberrant specimens with lightened and reduced markings have been described as E. boreomontanum Sedykh, 1979. From the Polar Urals the ssp. flaveoides Korshunov et Tatarinov, 1996 has been described.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Moors, swampy meadows and mountain tundras up to 1,000 m a.s.l. Flight period: June-July.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. ligea, E. euryale: much larger; UPS ocelli well-developed.
