· TYPE LOCALITY. "Penjikend (Prov. Samarkand)" [Zeravshan Valley, Tajikistan].

· RANGE. The Pamirs-Alai to Inner Tian-Shan.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Ghissar, S. Ghissar - the nominate subspecies; Darvaz, Alai, the W. Pamirs - ssp. tadjika (Grum-Grshimailo, 1890); E. Alai, Inner Tian-Shan - ssp. gultschensis Grum-Grshimailo, 1888).

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes and sparse woodlands at 1,000-2,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. Ch. kaufmanni: UPS postdiscal bands reduced, as a rule; UNS darker. Ch. rangontavica: UPH almost totally white; UPF with a large white spot in the cell.
