• TYPE LOCALITY. "Ussuri".

• RANGE. E. and S. Asia from the Amur region to SW. China, Korea and Japan.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Amur and Ussuri regions, populated by the nominate subspecies. Other forms differing in size and colour are known from China.

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Grassy habitats in woodlands. Flight period: July-August. Calamagrostis, Bromus, Agropyron, Brachypodium and Carex have been recorded as host plants in Japan (Fukuda et al., 1984).

• SIMILAR SPECIES.T.leonina: male with a stigma; UNS black veins less prominent. Ochlodes ochracea: male with androconia, female dark markings heavier.
