• TYPE LOCALITY. "Aus der Turkei am Marmarameer" [NW. Turkey].

• SYNONYMS: jason Oberthur, 1912; eupator Hemming, 1932.

• RANGE. From the Balkan Peninsula across Asia Minor to Iran.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Transcaucasia (Armenia).

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Dry steppe habitats at moderate elevations, occurring locally. Flight period: June-July. Host plant in Lebanon: Convolvulus libanotica.

• SIMILAR SPECIES. S. osthelderi, S. geron, S. don's: UNH costal white spots well-separated from the central discal spot. S. orbifer. smaller, UNH spots rounded and separated.
