• TYPE LOCALITY. "Tajora, Red Sea" [Somalia].

• SYNONYMS: adenensis Butler, 1884.

• RANGE. N. Africa from Morocco to Egypt and Somalia, and across Arabia and the Middle East to N. India.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. S. Turkmenia (E. Kopet-Dagh foothills, Badhkyz, Amu-Darya Valley, Kugitangtau Mts.) and S. Uzbekistan. Represented by the ssp. evanida Butler, 1880.

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Desert and semi-desert habitats on plains and at foothills; possibly spread through irrigated areas. The only host plant known is Convolvulus lanatus. Flight periods: April and September-October in two or (?)more generations.

• SIMILAR SPECIES. S. osthelderi, S. geron: larger, UNH discal row of spots directed more basad.
