• RANGE. From centred China (Kuku-Noor) across E. Mongolia to Transbaikalia.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. E. Transbaikalia.

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Dry steppe-clad slopes and steppe habitats in river valleys. Flight period: end of June to August. Host plant: Phlomoides tuberosa.

• SIMILAR SPECIES. M. tessellum: genitalia different. M. gigas: larger and darker, UPS and UNS spotting generally reduced.
