• TYPE LOCALITY. . Algeria (Prov. Constantine and Oran) and Tunisia.

• RANGE. N. Africa, Rhodes Island, Asia Minor to Palestine and N. Iran.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. S. Transcaucasia (Nakhichevan, Talysh), populated by the ssp. ambigua Verity, 1925.

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Xerothermic landscapes in the mountains. In different parts of its range, C. stauderi can fly from March to October, possibly in several generations. Host plants: Marrubium vulgare in Algeria, Nepeta floccosa in Egypt.

• SIMILAR SPECIES. C. alceae: male lacking a UNF hair tuft. C. flocciferus, C. orientalis, C. dravira: genitalia different (Fig.).
