· RANGE. S. and SE. Europe to Asia Minor and the S. Urals.
· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION.The S. European part to the W. Caucasian foothills, the S. Urals, NW. Kazakhstan. Besides the nominate subspecies, the ssp. thesto Fruhstorfer, 1908 has been described from Lower Volga region.
· HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Sunny slopes of gorges, ravines and foothills. Flight period: April-June. Host plant: Aristolochia clematitis. Pupa hibernating.
