· TYPE LOCALITY. "Aulie-Ata" [Dzhambul, W. Talassky Alatau Mts., W. Tian-Shan].
· RANGE. Confined to W. Tian-Shan.
· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Besides the nominate subspecies from the Talassky Mts., three other subspecies have been described: ssp. arasana Avinov et Sweadner, 1951 - the Chatkalsky Mts.; ssp. angrena Avinov et Sweadner, 1951 - the Chatkalsky Mts. (Plateau Angren); ssp. praestans Avinov et Sweadner, 1951 - the Kirghizsky Mts.
· TAXONOMIC NOTES. The differences between the subspecies are so faint that most probably they should be better regarded as synonyms.
· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes at 2,200-3,200 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.
· SIMILAR SPECIES. K. wilkinsi: UPH outer border with reddish veins.
