· TYPE LOCALITY. "...in Semiretschie et Kaschgar septentrionali" [Uch-Tash, Chatyr-Kel Lake, Turugart Mts., Tian-Shan].

· RANGE. Alai, Inner and N. Tian-Shan.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The nominate subspecies flies in Inner Tian-Shan (the Turugart and At-Bashy mts.). In addition, the following two formal subspecies can be recognized: ssp. naryna Avinov et Sweadner, 1951 - Inner Tian-Shan (the Baidulu and Naryntau mts.); and ssp. regula (Staudinger, 1887) - Alai.

Populations from N. Tian-Shan (the Kirghizsky Mts.) probably represent another distinct subspecies.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes at 2,000-3,000 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. K. kasakstana: UPF without basal white area. Chazara heydenreichi: male UPF with an androconial area; UPH white band with a strong inward projection.
