· TYPE LOCALITY. "Gebirgen bei Osch" [S. of Osh, Alaisky Mts., Kirghizia].

· RANGE. Confined to Tian-Shan, Alai and Transalai.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Alai, Inner Tian-Shan - the nominate subspecies; W. Tian-Shan (the Chatkalsky and Talassky Mts.), N. Tian-Shan (the Kirghizsky Mts.) - ssp. sokolovi Lukhtanov, 1990.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Steppe-clad slopes and mountain meadows at 2,500-3,900 m a.s.l. Flight period: July-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. progne: smaller; UPS ground colour dull, reddish-brown markings obscure. E. usgentensis: UNH ground colour with intensive silvery scaling.
