· TYPE LOCALITY. Sweden.

· RANGE. From W. Europe across the central and S. European parts to the S. Urals and across the Caucasus to Asia Minor.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The European part, the Caucasus Major, the Armenian Highland - the nominate subspecies (= amyntas Poda, 1761; = caucasica Jachontov, 1914).

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Various habitats in lowland and mountain forests up to 1,000-1,700 m a.s.l., such as forest edges, openings, bushy patches, etc. Flight period: May-August, two generations in the south. Larvae hibernating. Host plants (Eckstein, 1913; Hesselbarth et al., 1995; etc.): Brachypodium, Festuca, Melica, Poa and other grasses.
