· TYPE LOCALITY. "...de la Siberie".
· RANGE. The S. Urals, the Altai Mts., W. and E. Siberia (up to Yakutia and the Magadan region in the north), Transbaikalia, the Amur and Ussuri regions, China, Mongolia, Korea.
· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The names rinda Menetries, 1859, from the Amur region; accrescens Staudinger, 1901, from the Ussuri region; and borisovi Korshunov et Ivonin, 1996, from the Baikal region, seem to be nothing else but infrasubspecific forms; the rest of the range is occupied by the nominate subspecies.
· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. A typical species of lowland and mountain meadows and steppe habitats; in the east of its range, C. amaryllis is found also in sparse larch forests and moorlands. In the mountains, it often occurs in tundra and alpine meadows, reaching up to 1,500-1,700 m a.s.l., i.e. higher than the upper forest line in the subalpine belt. Flight period: June-August. Larvae hibernating. Host plant: Poa.
