• RANGE. W. Tian-Shan.
• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Montane, moderately humid meadows at 1,500-2,500 m a. s.l. Flight period: mid-May to the end of July, in two generations.
• SIMILAR SPECIES. Melitaea didyma: submarginal lunules of UPH well-developed; aedeagus strongly curved. M. ninae: ground colour yellow-orange. M. kotshubeji: male genitalia different.
