   Pseudochazara schahrudensis (Staudinger, 1881)

· TYPE LOCALITY. "Schahrud" [Elburs Mts., Iran].

· RANGE. From the Caucasus to E. Elburs.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Armenian Highland and Talysh - the nominate subspecies; populations from Daghestan may prove to deserve a subspecific rank of their own.

· TAXONOMIC NOTES. Many authors treat schahrudensis as a subspecies of P. mamurra (Herrich-Schaffer, [1844]), the latter taxon occurring in N. Turkey. However, it must be taken into account that these two taxa differ sharply in shape of the androconial scales (Fig. 72).

· SIMILAR SPECIES. P. pelopea: fringes darker; androconial area inconspicuous; shape of androconial scales different. P. guriensis: wings produced; fringes darker; UNH pattern less strongly contrasting; androconial scales different.
