· TYPE LOCALITY. "Afganistan, Prov. Samangan, Tang-e-Tashqurghan, 500 m".

· RANGE. Confined to N. Afghanistan and S. Tajikistan.

· TAXONOMIC NOTES. This species is almost totally absent from collections and its specific status seems to be doubtful. This form is most closely related to P. thelephassa and may prove to be a subspecies of the latter.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Clayey-stony slopes at 500-2,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: June-August.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. P. thelephassa: UPS postdiscal band on both wings narrower and strongly broken along veins by a dark ground colour. P. turkestana, P. panjshira: male UPF without dark androconial streak.
