· TYPE LOCALITY. "Lap.[land] s.[eptentrionalis]; Fen.[noscandia]; ?Am.[erica] pol.[aris]".

· RANGE. From S. Scandinavia sporadically to the S. Urals.

· DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The larger and brighter specimens from the S. Urals are referred to the ssp. uralensis Staudinger, 1871.

· HABITAT AND BIOLOGY. Lowland and mountain tundras up to 1,500 m a.s.l. Flight period: end of June to July. Host plants (Henriksen, Kreutzer, 1982): Poa palustris, Milium effusum.

· SIMILAR SPECIES. E. medusa: larger; reddish-brown markings more or less bright.
