• TYPE LOCALITY. "Saisan Noor, See im Quellegebiet des Irtysh" [Zaisan, Saur Mts., SE. Kazakhstan].

• RANGE. Mountains of Central Asia to the S. Altai and N. Tibet.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Ghissar (Turkestansky Mts.), Alai (Alaisky, Zaalaisky Mts.), the Pamirs (Vanchsky Mts.), Tian-Shan (Karatau, Terskei-Alatau Mts., Inner Tian-Shan), the S. Altai (Tarbagatai, Saur Mts.). Variable in size and UPS white pattern; the ssp. gigantea Staudinger, 1886 has been described from Middle Asian mountains ("Ferghana").

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Mountains up to 3,000 m a.s.l. Flight period: June-July.
