• TYPE LOCALITY. "Kizyl-Arvat" [Kyzyl-Arvat, S. Turkmenia].

• RANGE. From E. Turkey and Transcaucasia across Iran and Afghanistan to S. Alai.

• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Armenian Highland, Kopet-Dagh, S. Ghissar, W. Tian-Shan - ssp. puluerata Christoph, 1884 (= persica Verity, 1911); Alai - ssp. alaica Verity, 1911.

• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Arid foothills and dry sparse forests up to 2,500 m a.s.I. Flight period: March-May in a single(!) generation.

• SIMILAR SPECIES. E. ausonia: UNH white spots of irregular shape. E. daphalis: smaller, FW black streak in cell reaching the costa.
